     In Prachatice together with the flourishing economical life the general culture developed too.A school was most likely in the town as early as in the last third of 14th century and at that time many scholars issued form this school.At the end of 14th century and at the beginning of 15th century the scholars who were at Prague University were: Václav Menšík of Prachatice - later the Rector of Prague University,the same position was also held by Křišťan of Prachatice (since 1390 a University teacher,an outstanding astronomer and a doctor of internal deseases),in about 1406 Michal of Prachatice was a notary of the University and in 40s of 15th century the head of the University was a dictor Václav of Prachatice.A legend says that the school was also attended by Master Jan Hus.
